visits to Beirne's. (Ours always do!)
Opposite the cottage, this refurbished 100 year old pub retains its original charm. Re-opened by Joe and Eilish Beirne, the pub hosts
regular traditional music sessions and is visited by both regulars and tourists.
It also has a beer garden, marina, caravan park/camp-site, children's playground,
barbecue facilities, and serves hot and cold snacks and a great pint of Guinness.
Beirne's sits on the banks of the Shannon at Battlebridge—the upper limits
of the river's navigation—which forms the first lock to the Lough Allen Canal.
